Family History

Joseph Jones was born in 1881 at South Normanton and was the son of Robert Jones (1847-1885) Mary Elizabeth Jones née Wilson (1846-1880) Joseph married his wife Rose Elizabeth Palmer (born 8th October 1880) in 1905 at Edmonton, they lived at Shepherd's Row Queen Street Southwell Nottinghamshire. They went on to have the following children, Albert Joseph born 1st May 1906, Edna Mary born 9th December 1908, and twins Rose Irene born 5th June 1912 and Robert born 5th June 1912. In the 1911 census the family are living at Shepperds Row, Queen Street, Southwell and are shown as Joseph Jones 30 yrs a cab driver, he is living with is wife Rose 30 yrs and their children Albert Joseph 4 yrs and Edna May 2 yrs of age. His widow was awarded a pension of 28 shillings and 9 pence a week from 5th November 1917

Military History

Driver Jospeh Jones enlisted at Newark and served with the 2nd Mobile Veterinary Section of the Army Service Corps. He landed in France on 17th September 1915 and died on 30th April 1917 of acute nephrites. He is buried at St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France.
