Family History

Harry Beastall was born in 1887 the son of the late John (1847-1910 ) a stationary engine stoker and Sarah Beastall ,he was lodging with his aunt and uncle relatives Fred and Mary Purdy in 1911 at 30 Forest Street East Kirkby. He married Clara Ann Marson (born 8th October 1889 ) in 1916 their mariage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they lived at 68 Harrington Street, Spencer Street, Mansfield. Commencing 23rd June 1919 his widow Clara was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week

Military History

Private Harry Beastall enlisted on 24th March 1916 at Mansfield, giving his age as 28 yrs and 316 days, he was a labourer with the local corporation his next of kin was his sister Lottie of 134 Victoria Road, Kirkby in Ashfield, He was posted to the North Staffordshire Regiment and on 28th April 1917 was transferred to the Labourer Corps. He died of chronic nephritis and pneumonia on 11th December 1918 at the Connaught Hospital, Aldershot.
