Cyril James Barrett was born in 1898 the son of Gersham a tailor and Amy Barratt née Wright of 30 Crown Street, Bulwell Gersham was born in 1872 at Sutton in Ashfield, Amy Wright was born in 1873 at Hucknall, married in 1897 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 3 children, Cyril James b1898, William b1900, Edith b1903 in 1911 his mother Amy was living at 30 Crown Street, Bulwell she is living with her children, William 11 yrs and Edith 8 yrs of age In 1911 he was listed with his uncle and aunt Frederick and Edith Shore on Alfreton Road Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire.
Private Cyril James Barratt enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Sutton in Ashfield, he was killed in action on 28th April 1917 having no know grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
