Albert Smith

Albert Smith was born in 1877 at Willoughby on the Wolds and was the son of the late Samuel an agricultural labourer and his second wife Miriam Lyne of Willoughby-on-the-Wolds, Notts His father Samuel was born in 1828 at Harby, Leicestershire, he died in 1880 aged 52 yrs he married his first wife Rebecca Lyne (1830- 1872) in 1849 their marriage was recorded in the Loughborough registration district. They had the following children, Samuel b1850, Joseph b1853 both were born at Willoughby they went on to have the following children, George b1856, Miriam 1860, Thomas b1863, Mary b1865 and Emma b1870 all were born at Upper Broughton Following the death of his first wife Rebecca in 1872 he went on to marry Miriam Lyne in 1874 their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham registration district, they went on to have two children Albert b1877 and Herbert b1880 both were born at Willioughby, In the 1911 census we find Albert living at Willoughby on the Wolds he is shown as being 34 yrs single a domestic gardener, he is head of the family and is living with his unmarried sister Miriam 49 yrs who is described as his housekeeper.
