Father: Charles James Sewell, born in 1867 at Peterborough, Huntingdonshire, working as a corn merchant's manager. Mother: Ann Sewell, born in 1868 at Gosberton, Lincolnshire. Brothers: John B., born in 1889 at Gosberton, George A., born in 1892 at Holbeach and Archibald T., born in 1895 at Holbeach. The family lived at Fleet Street, Holbeach before moving to 28 Waterway Street, Meadows, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Sewell was called up for service and following trainimg he was drafted to France. The battalion was involved in heavy fighting during the Third Battle of Ypres, and Pte. Sewell was killed in action. His body was never recovered, but his name was commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
