He was the son of John and Eliza Bettle of Beeston Nottingham. He was the husband of May Ellen Bettle and the father of John William Bettle of 50 Collington Street Beeston. His brother Percy Douglas Bettle was killed in action 21/3/1918.
John William Bettle, 255th Area Employment Company Labour Corps, formerly 1st (Garrison) Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, was buried in Faubourg D'Amiens Cemetery, Arras.
His brother Lance Corporal Percy Bettle was killed in action on 21st March 1918. In memoriam published 3rd June 1918 IN THE Nottingham Evening Post :- “BETTLE. – In loving tender memories of my dear husband, Pte. J. W. (Will) Bettle, Collington-street, Beeston, Notts., killed in FranceJune 3rd, 1917. God's will, not mine, but Thine be done. – Loving wife, Jack, baby May. “BETTLE. – In loving memory of Pte. [sic] J.
