Family History

Arthur Ernest Cranwell was born in 1893 at Carlton Le Moreland, Lincolnshire, he was the son of Thomas a jobbing gardener and the late Emma Sarah Ann Waterson of Jubilee Street, Kimberley. His father Thomas Cranwell was born in 1859 his mother Emma Sarah Ann Walterson was born in 1859 both were born in Chrishill, Essex, his mother died in 1911 aged 52 yrs, they had a daughter Jessie Cranwell born 1898 In 1911 the family lived on Jubilee Street Kimberley Nottinghamshire, Thomas 52 yrs is a jobbing gardener, he is living with his wife Emma Sarah Ann 52 yrs and their children, Arthur Ernest 18 yrs a carter and Jessie 13 yrs of age.

Military History

Private Arthur Ernest Cranwell enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Kimberley, he served with the 2nd battalion Royal Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 28th June 1915 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli.
