He was the husband of Mary (née Kelly) Meakin and the father of Archer, William and Henriette Meakin. In 1911 they lived at 7, Imperial Road, Beeston, Nottingham.
Military History
He volunteered at the beginning of the war and was initially recruited to the 17th Lancers as a Trooper on 7 September 1914, later transferring to the Royal Irish Rifles. He is buried in the Berks Cemetery Extension Belgium Grave Reference: l.K.9
