Family History

He was the son of William Alfred and Mary Sharpe of 43 Edward Road, Bedford. In 1911 he was boarding with his uncle and aunt George William and Florence Sharpe and cousin Harold Frederick Sharp at 23 Rutland Road, Nottingham.

Military History

Rifleman William Alfred Sharpe, enlisted in October 1914 in Nottingham and served with the 1/8th (City of London) Battalion London Regiment (Post Office Rifles). He landed in France on 1st July 1915 and was killed in action on 25th September 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France (Panel 131).
