Son of Robert Frederick and Harriet Maud Hubble and the brother of Ida Gladys Hubble. Robert was a bank manager. In 1911 they lived at Market Place Sutton in Ashfield Nottinghamshire, but later moved to Nottingham. His father applied for his son's medals, giving his address as 'c/o The National Provincial and Union Bank of England, Nottingham' [Smith's Bank Branch]
Second Lieutenant Harry Ronald Hubble, 3rd Battalion The King's (Liverpool Regiment), landed in France 15 July 1916 he was killed in action on 20th May 1917. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
Article published on 6th June 1917 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “KILLED. “Lieut. H. R. Hubble. “Second Lieut. Harry Ronald Hubble, the King's (Liverpool) Regiment, killed in action May 20th, was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Hubble,] 2, Peveril Drive, The Park, Nottingham, and was educated at Bentham and Mansfield Grammar Schools, proceeding to Cambridge with the intention of taking holy orders. Matriculating at Selwyn College, Cambridge, in 1911, he soon became well known as an oarsman, and was elected hon. secretary of the Selwyn College Boat Club in 1912. In 1914 he successfully captained his college eight in the May races, and at Henley Regatta, where Twickenham and the Royal Club Nautique de Grand, Belgium, were beaten in the race for the Thames Cup. He was loved by all who knew him, and no one could ever forget his cheery spirits, no matter what hardships he was undergoing.
