Family History

Parents: Charles and Harriett Revill of 40 Bowling St, Mansfield. Younger brother Harold also served and he survived the war. He married his wife Dora Betts (born 12th January 1892 )in 1902 at Mansfield, they lived at 2 Gladstone Street, Mansfield and had two children, Hilda born 6th September 1912 and William Henry born 24th July 1916 . Following his death his widow Dora was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week which commenced on 22nd May 1916.

Military History

Private William Henry Revill, enlisted at Mansfield and served with the 6th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 22nd September 1915. He had landed on the Gallipoli as a reinforcement to the battalion on 14th September 1915. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
