George Henry Johnson

George Henry Johnson was born in 1884 in Farndon and was the son of George Johnson a farm labourer and Mary Johnson née Orwin of Thorpe Lane, Farndon. His father George was born in 1857 at Little Carlton and his mother Mary Orwin was born in 1858 at East Markham, they were married in 1880, their marriage was recorded in the Southwell Registration District, they had 9 children, sadly one died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were John William b1881, George Henry b1884, Ada b1884, Herbert b1891, Frank b1893, Walter b1895, Alice b1898 and Fred b1900. George Henry married his wife Harriett Croom in 1909, their marriage was recorded in the Newark Registration district. In the 1911 census the family are living at Thorpe Lane Farndon and are shown as George 54 yrs a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Mary 52 yrs and their children, Alice 13 yrs a hay girl and Fred 11 yrs a scholar, also living with them is Alice 1 year of age a granddaughter. In the 1911 census George Henry is living at 20 Shepphers Row, Northgate, Newark, he is shown as being 27 yrs a matster, he is living with his wife Harriett 27 yrs. George Henry and Harriett Johnson were living at 20 George Street, Newark at the time of his death and had had, 6 children all of whom were under 8 yrs of age at the time of Georges death. .
