William Jacques enlisted at Worksop and served with the battalion at Gallipoli and in Egypt. In July 1916 they arrived in France and moved to the Arras front. In August a move was made to the Somme in preparation for the Battle of Thiepval, 26/29th September 1916. William was one of over hundred men who were killed during the battalion's successful attack on 26th September and he was buried near were he fell. After the armistice his remains were re-interred in Pozieres British Cemetery, Grave Reference: IV. C. 25. John Morse
