Cecil Welbourne

The Welbourne family included eight children who were all born at Great Ponton, Lincolnshire. They were, Richard born 1873, George T 1875, Ada L 1879, Florence E 1882, Albert 1885, Kate 1887, Cecil D 1889 and Dora 1892. Their parents were Hiram & Mary Lucy Welbourne, née Dunsmore who had married in 1873 in Melton Mobary. Hiram died the same year as their daughter, Dora was born in 1892, at the age of 40. Mary Lucy Welbourne spent the next ten years as a widow before remarrying Samuel Howitt in 1902. By 1911, the Howitts’ were still in Great Ponton but all of the children had left home. Of them, Cecil Welbourne, actually born and christened Cecil Dunsmore Welbourne, was living as a boarder and working as a joiner at Milford, Tuxford in the house of John Lamb, joiner & wheelwright and probably worked on the Clumber estates later on. He married Annie Jackson, Retford in 1915. He may later have been a local estate worker as his name appears on Elkesley and Clumber Park, even though his name is not associated with these locations (post 1911)
