Military History

Private Ernest William Booth, served with the 10th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 10th October 1917. He is buried in Cement House Cemetery.(grave ref XV.E.21).

Extra Information

Depressed following the death of her son, Ernest, on the Western Front, Nottingham woman Florence Booth was brought to Hucknall to stay with friends. On 28th August 1918 she was found hanging from a door frame after fashioning a noose from her handkerchief. Obituary published 30th August 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BOOTH. – On August 28th, [1918] at 32 Co-operative-avenue, Hucknall, Florence Booth, late of 10 Muskham-street, Nottingham.
