Military History

James Ernest Brammer James was one of nine children born to James and Florence Brammer and although born in Worksop, James moved with his family to Brampton near Rotherham during his early life. He married Florence in 1910, and then quickly produced a son, Ernest. L/Cpl first served in the Royal Field Artillery and then in the Lancashire Fusiliers with whom he was serving when killed during the Battle of Broodseinde on 4 October 1917. Having no known grave, he is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial near Ypres. Courtesy of Robert Illett
