Henry Cowley was an agricultural labourer when he married Elizabeth Allison in Elkesley in 1897. By 1911 they had produced three children, Herbert born in 1898, Ernest 1900 and Albert born 1903. Henry was now working as a roadman labourer for the Rural District Council.
