George William Henry Russell

Private George William Henry Russell, enlisted in Nottingham and joined the Bankers' Battalion, 26th Royal Fusiliers, November, 1915, afterwards attached 9th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. He was killed in action on 30th November 1917. He has no known grave and his name is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial, Louverval

All Saints Church News, August 1919: 'The following have not previously been reported in the “Church News”. The sympathy of the Church goes out to the bereaved. George William Henry Russell, 5 Claremont Terrace, Private, Royal Fusilers missing November 30th at Cambrai; aged 22; Communicant; his father was killed in South African War.' Obituary published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 29th November 1918:- “RUSSELL. – In tenderest memory of Harry, the dearly loved and loving nephew of Kate and Dora Russell, of 5 Claremont-terrace, Francis-street, and son of the late George and Ellen Russell, joined the Bankers' Battalion, 26th Royal Fusiliers, November, 1915, afterwards attached 9th Battalion, reported missing at Cambrai November 30th, 1917, aged 21 years.” Above obituary courtesy of Jim Grundy and his facebook pages Small Town Great War Hucknall 1914-1918
