He was the son of Allen and Ann Elizabeth Clay and the brother of Allen, Frederick, Mary Jane, Beatrice and Hilda Clay. In 1911 they lived at 33 Springfield Gardens Ilkeston Derbyshire.
Military History
He enlisted at Ilkeston 9/12/1915. He arrived in France 26/2/1917 was posted missing 26/9/1917 and 'officially accepted as having died on overseas service' 12/7/1918.
