Albert Henry Parr was born in 1899 at Lambley and was the son of Samuel William a frame work knitter and Mary Parr née Nelson of Chapel Lane, Lambley. His father Samuel William was born in 1854 at Lambley, his mother Mary Nelson was born in 1863 also at Lambley, they were married on 14th June 1886 at St Mary's Church, Nottingham and went on to have the following children all of whom were born in Lambley, Maria b1887, George William b1890, Florence b1893, Edith Helen b1897, Albert Henry b1899, Harold b1901and Herbert Parr b1905. In the 1911 census the family lived at Chapel Lane, Lambley, Nottinghamshire and were shown as Samuel William Parr 57 yrs a frame work knitter, he is living wit his wife Mary 48 yrs a hosiery seamstress, they are living wit their children, George William 21 yrs a hosiery factory hand, Edith Helen 14 yrs a factory hand, Albert Henry 12 yrs a scholar, Harold 10 yrs a scholar and Hebert 6 yrs of age. At the time of his death his family were living at 185 Carlton Hill, Carlton, Nottingham.
Private Albert Henry Parr enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Carlton, he initially served with the service number 116718 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was serving with the 9th battalion Essex Regiment when he was killed in action on 18th September 1918 and is buried at Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery, Epehy, France grave reference II.C.14
