Bertie Searson was born in Kirton, in 1891 and was the son of George a farmer and Sarah Hannah Searson néé Stacey. His father George was born in 1863 in Kirton and his mother Sarah Hannah Stacey was born in 1865 at Walkeringham, they were married in 1890 their marriage was recorded in the East Retford Registration District. They had the following children all born at Kirton, Emily b1885, Bertie b1891 and George Herbert b1893 Bertie Searson married Julia Marshall Jan-Mar 1913 in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. His probate was administered on 30th November 1939 at London and showed him as Bertie Searson, Forest Road, New Ollerton, Nottingham died 22nd November 1918 his effects of £766 12 shillings and 7 pence were left to his widow Julia Searson.

Military History

Air mechanic 2nd class Bertie Searson served with the 96th Squadron, Royal Flying Corps from 6th December 1917. He died of influenza on 29th November 1918 at the VAD Hospital at Hungtingdon. He is buried at Holy Trinity Churchyard, Kirton, Nottinghamshire. Inscription on headstone: 'Ever in our thoughts'.
