Albert Harry Beaumont known as 'Harry' was born in 1888 at Ollerton and was the son of John Kerr an organist and parish clerk and Emma Ann Beaumont of Cemetery Road, Ollerton. His father John Kerr was born in 1853 at Ollerton, his mother Emma Ann Jubb was born in 1855 at Cliffe, Yorkshire, they were married in 1878 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration area, they went on to have the following children, John George b1880 Skegness, Amy Mary b1882 Skegness, Ada Rebecca b1883 Grimsby, Albert Harry b1888 Ollerton and Charles born 1890 Ollerton. In the 1911 census his parents are living at Ollerton village and are shown as Joe Kerr Beaumont 58 yrs an organist and parish clerk, he is living with his wife Emma Ann 56 yrs. In the same 1911 census Albert Harry is serving in the Army with the Sherwood Foresters Regiment (Nottinghamshire & Derby Regiment) he is shown as being 24 yrs and is at the Normanton barracks at Derby
Corporal Albert Harry Beaumont enlisted at Newark whilst residing at Ollerton. He initially served with the service number 9598 in the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). He was serving with the 8th Division Army Cyclist Corps when he was killed in action on 11th March 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
His brother Private Charles Beaumont enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Newark, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 14th November 1915 and is buried in La Brique Military Cemetery, No.2. West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Entry April 1915, Ollerton National School log: ''I regret to place on record the sad news that another of our recent scholars, William Clay, has been killed at the Front, he was a corporal in the Life Guards. This with Harry Beaumont and Tpr Wilfred Handley makes the third of our late boys who have given their lives in answer to the 'Call of Derby'.' (Nottinghamshire Archives, ref SL 128, 1/2)
