Family History

Ernest Bond was born in 1887 at Newark and was the son of the late John a shoemaker and Harriett Bond of Sheppards Row, Newark. His father John was born in 1843 in Leicester and his mother Harriett was born in 1847 also in Leicester, they were married C1865 in Leicester and had the following children, John b1876, Joseph b1878, Alfred b1881 and Ernest b1887 all of whom were born in Newark.

Military History

Private Ernest Bond enlisted at Newark and served with the 9th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He landed in France on 4th November 1914 and was accidentally killed on 16th June 1917 at Ypres, he is buried at Irish House Cemetery, Heuvelland, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
