Reginald Michael Plunkett was born in 1887 in Nottingham and was the son of James a timber traveller and Harriett Ellen Plunkett née Palmer of 106 Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham. His father was born in 1856 in Nottingham and his mother Harriett Ellen Palmer was born in 1861 in Nottingham, they were married in 1880 in Nottingham and went on to have 7 children all of whom were born in Nottingham, they were : Nora Ethel b1882, McVernon James b1883, Blanche Mabel b1885, Reginald Michael b1887, Ida b1890, Kathleen b1891 and Dennis Morton b1895. in the 1911 census the family are living at 309 Castle Boulevard, Nottingham and are shown as, James 38 yrs a timber traveller, he is living with his wife Harriett Ellen 50 yrs and their children McVernon James 28 yrs an engineering clerk, Blanche Mabel 26 yrs a furniture clerk, Reginald Michael 24 yrs a lace clerk, Ida 21 yrs a student, Kathleen 20 yrs a furniture clerk and Dennis Morton 16 yrs a student.
Rifleman Reginald Michael Plunkett, enlisted at Nottingham and served with “B” Company, 4th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He landed in France on 12th May 1915 and was killed in action within days on 25th May 1915. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial, Ypres, Belgium
