Family History

Alfred Jennings was the eldest of four children born to William and Mary Ann Jennings, née Sadler. He was born in Cuckney, Notts in 1884, four years after his parents married. He had three siblings, Elizabeth born 1890, Ellen born 1897 and William born 1895. William the elder, carried out farm and cattle work whilst living at Holbeck. In 1909 Mary Jennings died age 53. In 1911 widower William, was resident in Cuckney. He had with him, Alfred, William and his daughter Elizabeth, who was now married to George Gagg. Alfred was working as a farm labourer and William (junior) was working as a collier. A year later, 1912, Alfred married Agnes Rhodes Tinker.

Military History

He enlisted at Derby and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France
