Family History

Michael Quinn was born in 1894 the son of the late James Quinn a ironworks furnace man and Isabella Jane Quinn née Bambrough and the brother of Susan, Thomas and Mary Quinn. In 1911 they lived at 22 Todd's Row Kirkby Woodhouse Nottinghamshire. James Quinn was born in 1860 at Pendleton, Lancashire, he died in 1910 aged 51 yrs, Isabella Jane Bambrough was born in 1873 at Hoyland, Yorkshire, married in 1892 their marriage was recorded in the Belper registration district.

Military History

Private Michael Quinn enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield, he initially served with the service number 49273 in The Leicestershire Regiment. He was killed in action on 7th October 1918 whilst serving with the 1st battalion Cambridgeshire Regiment having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France.
