Samuel Gilbert Booth

Samuel Gilbert Booth was born in 1886 at Nottingham and was the son of late John Booth a general labourer and Mary Booth née Gilbert of Queens Road, Beeston. His father John was born in 1851 he died in 1911 aged 61 yrs , his mother Mary Gilbert was born in 1856 at Mansfield, married in 1878 at Radford and went on to have the following children, Sarah b1881 Nottingham, Winifred b1884 Nottingham Samuel b1886 Nottingham, Mary Ellen b1889 Beeston, Edith Allen b1891 Beeston, and George b1894 Beeston. In the 1911 census the family are living at 116 Queens Road, Beeston and are shown as John Booth 60 yrs a general labourer, he is living with his wife Mary 55 yrs and their children, Samuel 25 yrs an iron works fettler, Mary Ellen 22 yrs a cotton winder, Edith Allen 20 yrs a cotton winder and George 17 yrs an iron works moulder, also living with them is Sarah Gilbert 75 yrs. Samuel married Emily Lane (born 11th April 1888) in 1912 at Nottingham, they lived at 328 Alfreton Road, Radford they went on to have the following children, William George born 29th March 1914 and Ellen born 19th March 1916. Following his death his widow Emily was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week which commenced on 18th March 1918.
