Albert Edwin Dove was born in 1892 he was the son of James a coal miner contractor and Agnes Minnie Dove née Gregory of the Needle makers Arms, Ilkeston. James was born in 1868 at Selston, Agnes Minnie Gregory was born in 1869 at Eastwood, they were married in 1890 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had two other children, James Harold and Agnes Lille. In 1911 the family were living at 71 Nottingham Road, Eastwood, James is 43 yrs and a coal miner contractor, he is living with his wife Agnes Minnie 42 yrs and two of their children, James Harold 18 yrs a hose maker and Agnes Lizzie 15 yrs. In 1911 Albert Edwin Dove has left the family home and is a boarder at Douglas Villas, Station Road, Killamarsh, he is shown as being 19 yrs of age, single and a grocers shop assistant, he is boarding with John Webster Bulmer 25 yrs a life assurance agent.

Military History

Rifleman Albert Edwin Dove enlisted in Ilkeston and served with 1st battalion King's (Liverpool Regiment) He was killed in action on 10th October 1916 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. is
