Family History

Arthur was born at West Stockwith in 1884 the son of John a chemical works labourer by trade and Annie Farr (nee Jenkinson) .He had 5 sibling :- Albert born 1875,Herbert born 1877,Florence born 1881,Jessie born 1888 and Rosamond born 1893.In the 1911 census he is shown as being 27 years of age, single and a barge mate on board the vessel ' Pride' moored at Torksey Lock, Foss Dyke.

Military History

Arthur enlisted in the Notts (Sherwood Rangers) Yeomanry and later served with the Worcester Yeomanry the Queen's Own Worcestershire Hussars which was part of the Household cavalry and Imperial Camel Corps. He was killed in action in Egypt and is buried in Jerusalem War cemetery, Israel
