Frederick Lawrence Simpson was born in 1897 he was the son of Joseph a carter and Mary Simpson née Pacey and the brother of Horace William and Joseph Thomas Simpson. Joseph was born in 1855 at Cotgrave, Mary Pacey was born in 1854 at Fiskerton, they were married in 1890 at Nottingham, they had 4 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, In 1911 the family were living at Hempshill Lane, Bulwell Nottingham. Joseph is 56 yrs and is a carter, Fred Lawrence is 14 yrs and is a coal miner.
