Family History

Aubrey George Wright was born in 1896 at Boston, Lincolnshire, he was the son of George James a foreman baker and Florence Louise Wright née Robinson of 46 Southwell Road, Mansfield. George James was born in 1872 at Lincoln, Florence Louise Robinson was born in 1871 at Wyberton, Lincolnshire, they were married on 13th October 1892 at Wyberton parish church, they went on to have 7 children. In the 1911 census the family are liiving at 42 Southwell Road, Mansfield, George James 39 yrs a foreman baker, he is living with his wife Florence 40 yrs and their children, Alec Ward 17 yrs a pony driver, coal miner, Hilda Emily 16 yrs a hosiery hand, Aubrey George 15 yrs pony driver coal miner, Harold Levi 15 yrs, George William 13 yrs, Kate Alice 8 yrs of age and Florence Louise 6 years of age.

Military History

Private Aubrey George Wright enlisted on 23rd January 1912 at Mansfield giving his address as 42 Southwell Road, Mansfield, he was 17 yrs of age and a coal miner at Crown Farm Colliery, he was posted to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He landed in France on 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action on 4th April 1916 and is buried Ecoivres Military Cemetery, Mont-St. Eloi, France. Plot 1. Row B. Grave 3.

His father enlisted on 20/09/1915 but was discharged on 27/09/1915 as unlikely to become an efficient soldier on medical grounds. He stood 5ft and 4 inches tall. additional research Peter Gillings
