He was the son of Herbert and Jane Singleton of 63 Holgate Road Meadows Nottingham. He was the brother of Edward Marshall Singleton, Royal Engineers who died of wounds 4th November 1918 and buried in Nottingham General Cemetery (He is also commemorated on the Beeston St John the Baptist memorial).
