Family History

Born 1884 the son of Edward and Elizabeth Croshaw. His father Edward was a railway Engine Driver and from 1891 to 1901 the family were living at No 24 North Western Terrace, Victoria Road, Netherfield. Walter was one of six children. Their mother died in 1898. Walter George married Margaret Harris in 1909. They moved to 21 Sunnyside Street, Salford where they had a daughter Elsie in 1910. He was a railway carriage cleaner. Following his death Margaret remarried and gives her name as Margaret Butler of 41, St. Georges Avenue, Newbury, Berks.

Military History

He enlisted in Salford and embarked for France 25 September 1915 and was killed in action 3 months later. Buried at Gunners Farm Military Cemetery, Belgium he was eligible for the 1915 Star and the British and Victory medals.
