Reginald Frank Martin was born in 1898 at Colwick and was the only son of Frederick Herbert a theatrical designer and Bertha Martin, née Chapka of "Penlee", Orlando Drive, Carlton, Nottingham.Frederick Herbert was born in 1871 at Newport, Monmouth, Bertha Chapka was born in 1875 at Stuzewo, Poland, married in 1896 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district In 1911 the family were living at Penlee, Orlando Drive, Carlton

Military History

Second Lieutenant Reginald Frank Martin enlisted at Nottingham and was commissioned Second Lieutenant 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 29th December 1915. He went to France 8th April 1917 and was killed in action, 30th June 1917, aged 19, whilst in the line near Cite St. Pierre, France. Commemorated : Arras Memorial, France. Bay 7.
