Military History

Ernest enlisted in Gainsborough and served with the 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. His medal index card states he first entered a theatre of war in France on 1st June 1915. He died of wounds at the 34 Casualty Clearing Station, France on 29th October 1916 and is buried at Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte, Somme, France.
