Bertram was born in 1897 in Sneinton and was the son of William a framework knitter and Alice Ann Wealthall née Lokes. His father William was born in 1855 in Sneinton and his mother Alice Ann Lokes was also born in 1855 in Basford. They were married in 1885; their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration District. They had 7 children, sadly one died in infancy prior to 1911; their children were all born in Sneinton and were: Annie b1888, Oswald b1890, Mary b1892, Ernest b1894, Fred b1896, Bert b1897 In 1911 they lived at 61 Flewitt Street, Alfred Street Nottingham. (His mother Alice Ann Whittaker had previously been married to George Henry Lokes with whom she had 5 children they later separated ) In the 1911 census the family are living at 61 Flewitt Street, Nottingham and are shown as William 56 yrs a frame work knitter, he is living with his wife Alice Ann 56 yrs and their children , Oswald 21 yrs a bobbin carriage hand, Mary 19 yrs a jenning finisher, Ernest 17 yrs a leather dresser, Fred 15 yrs a butchers boy and Bert 13 yrs a school boy. The family home was still at 61 Flewitt Street, when Bertram died in 1916.
Private Bertram Wealthall, served with the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment (Welbeck Rangers). He died of wounds on 29th May 1916 and is buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-L'Avoue. (grave ref III.G.3).
CWGC headstone personal inscription: 'Beloved by all' Nottingham Evening Post, ‘Roll of Honour’, 5 June 1916: ‘Wealthall. Killed in action May 28th, Private B Wealthall, Sherwood Foresters, youngest dearly loved son of Mr and Mrs Wealthall, 61 Flewitt-street, aged 18 years.
