Thomas Richards

Thomas Richards was born in 1882 at Hucknall and was the son of George a confectionery dealer and Eliza Richards née Westby. His father George was born in 1847 at Carrington and his mother Eliza Westby was born in 1847 at Nottingham, they were married in 1868 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, Selina b1870 Carrington, Emma Amelia b1870 Carrington, John b1875 Basford, George b1879 Basford, Annie b1881 Carrington, Thomas b1882 Hucknall, Helen b1885 Basford, Nellie b1885 Basford, Roert b1887 Basford and Martha b1889 Basford. Thomas married his wife Mary Jane Freer on 14th December 1909 at St John's Church, Cudworth, Barnsley, they lived at 4 Bow Street, Cudworth, Barnsley and had the following children, Wilfred born 30th April 1910, Benjamin born 31st March 1912 and Frances born 24th October 1914. Following his death his widow Mary Jane was awarded a pension fo 20 shillings and 6 pence which commenced on 26th February 1917. In the 1911 census his parents are living at 48 Hucknall Road, Carrington, Nottingham and are shown as George Richards a confectionery dealer, he is living with his wife Eliza 64 yrs who is assisting her husband in his business and their daughter Ellen 26 yrs a lace mender.
