Frederick Bailey was born in 1885 at Hucknall and was the son of William a clock and watch repairer and Ann Bailey née Arnold of Cross Green Soham, Cambridgeshire His father William was born in 1845 at Wicken, Cambridgeshire and his mother Ann Arnold was born in 1843 at Isleham, Cambridgeshire, they were married in 1863 their marriage was recorded in the Newarket registration district, they went on to have the following children, James Arnold b1873 Soham, John William b1875 Isleham, Charles E b1878 Upton, Nottinghamshire, George Henry b1882 Wickham and Frederick b1885 at Hucknall. In the 1911 census the family are living at Pratt Street, Soham, Cambridgeshire and are shown as William Bailey 66 yrs a clock and watch repairer, he is living with his wife Ann 68 yrs and their son Frederick 26 yrs a cock and watch repairer.

Military History

Private Frederick Bailey enlisted at Newmarket, he served with the 2nd battalion Suffolk Regiment, he was killed in action on 28th November 1916 and is buried at Bertrancourt Military Cemetery plot 2 row A grave 7.
