Albert Leslie Parker was born in 1898 at Nottingham and was the son of John Henry a leather finisher and Agnes Parker née Stone of 73 Kimbolton Avenue, Nottingham. His father John Henry was born in 1866 at Nottingham his mother Agnes Stone was born in 1873 at Spondon they were married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Shardlow registration district, they went on to have 4 children, sadly one died in infancy or early childhood their surviving children were Ernest Arthur b 1892 and Bernard Henry Parker b1902 both were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family lived at 73 Kimbolton Avenue Nottingham and were shown as John Henry 45 yrs a leather finisher, he is living with hs wife Agnes 38 yrs and their children Ernest Arthur 19 yrs an apprentice leather finisher, Albert Leslie 13 yrs a scholar and Bernard Henry 9 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Albert Leslie Parker enlisted at Nottingham and served in Gallipoli during 1915 with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was killed in action 5th July 1916, aged 19, during the attack near Fricourt, France during the Battle of the Somme. Having no kinown grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
