John Thomas Coleman was born on 28th October 1897 and was baptised on 5th December 1897 at Rosliston, Derbyshire and was the son of Thomas a coal miner hewer and Alice Mary Coleman née Cleverley of 2 Woodville, Mansfield Road, Warsop. His father Thomas was born in 1868 at Rosliston, his mother Alice Mary Cleverley was born in 1869 on the Isle of Shepey, they were married on 27th December 1892 at Rosliston parish church, they went on to have the following children, John Thomas b1897 Rosliston, Edith Alice b1908 and Roy b1908 bother were born at Warsop, In the 1911 census the family were living at 39 Edward Street, Warsop and were shown as Thomas Coleman 43 yrs a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Alice Mary 42 yrs and their children John 13 yrs no occupation, Edith Alice 3 yrs and Roy 3 years of age

Military History

Private John Thomas Coleman, enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Warsop he served with the 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, was killed in action 21st May 1916. He is buried in Albert Communal Cemetery Extension.
