Fred Holloway was born in 1897 at Rufford, he was the son of James a farmer and Elizabeth Holloway née Hodgkinson Wilson they lived at Python Hill Road, Rainworth, Nottinghamshire. James was born in 1863 at Blidworth, Elizabeth Hodgkinson Wilson was born in 1865 at Birley Grange, they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they had 8 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. in 1911 the family are living at Python Hill, Blidworth James 48 yrs is a farmer he is living with his wife Elizabeth 46 yrs and 5 of their children including Fred 14 yrs a farmers son working on the farm National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations) HOLLOWAY Fred of Python Hill, Blidworth, Nottinghamshire, Private in H.M. Private Fred Holloway attested at Southwell, Nottinghamshire on 29th February 1916, he gave his age as 19 yrs and 5 months , he was a horseman and was living at Python Hill, Blidworth and his next of kin was his father James of the same address. He was posted to the reserves and mobilised for war on 23rd May 1918 at Nottingham, he was by now 21 yrs and 254 days old. He was posted to the 3rd battalion Sherwood Foresters at Sunderland on 25th May 1918. He embarked from Dover on 5th October 1918 landing the same day at Calais. On 9th October 1918 he was posted to the 11th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action 23rd October 1918 and is buried at Highland Cemetery, Le Cateau, France. Plot VIII. Row D.
