Family History

Harold was born in 1892 in Ilkeston amd was the son of Arthur a brewer and waiter and Mary A Wharmby of 29 Querneby Road Mapperley Nottingham and the brother of Dorothy and Florence Wharmby . In the 1911 census the family are living at the 'school house' Querneby Road, Mapperley, Nottingham , Harold is 19 years of age, single and a draughtsman.

Military History

Harold enlisted in Nottingham and served with the Royal Fusiliers 24th battalion London Regiment. His medal index card shows he first entered a theatre of war in France on 15th November 1915 . He died of wounds received on 14th November 1916 and is buried in Couin British Cemetery, Pas De Calais, France grave reference VI A 7
