Ronald was born in 1890 in Withern, Lincolnshire and was the son of late Henry a butcher and Eliza Jane Webster née Jarvis , they lived at 126 Holme Road West Bridgford, Nottingham His father was born in 1845 in Withern Lincolnshire and his mother Eliza Jane Jarvis was born in 1849 also in Withern. Their marriage was recorded in 1876 in the Lincoln Registration district, they had the following children all of whom were born in Withern, Minnie b1878, William b1880, Harry b1881, Evalina b1882, Mary b1885, Hugh b1888, Sidney b1889 and Ronald b1890. In the 1901 census the family are living at Main Street, Withern, Lincolnshire , Henry a butcher is head of the family. In 1911 Henry 66 years of age dies, his death is recorded in the Basford Registration District. In the 1911 census the family are living at 126 Holme Road, West Bridgford, Eliza Jane 62 yrs a widow is head of the family, she is living at the address with two of her sons Hugh 23 yrs a drapers shop assistant and Ronald 21 yrs a grocers shop assistant.
Driver Ronald Webster, enlisted in Nottingham and served with 128th Field Company Royal Engineers. He landed in the Balkans on 30th June 1915 . He died of wounds whilst serving on the Western Front at 72nd Field Ambulance on 15th June 1917. The Gallipoli veteran is buried in Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm),Belgium, grave ref. VII.B.6/18.
Nottingham Post notice (abridged), 29 June 1917: 'Webster. Died of wounds on June 15th, 'Ron', youngest brother of Mrs E Willson, 11 Seymour Road, Driver, Royal Engineers. Brother Hugh.' In memoriam published 15th June 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “WEBSTER. – In proud and precious memory of Driver “Ron” Webster, R.E., who was killed June 15th, 1917. Beloved youngest son of Mrs. and the late Henry Webster, 125, Holme-road, and brother of Mrs. R. Wilson, 11, Seymour-road, W.B. Unceasingly yearned for by his mother and eight brothers and sisters. “WEBSTER. – In loving memory of my dear brother, Ronald, killed on duty June 1th, 1917. “Into Thy hands, O Lord, we commend him.” – Lil. “WEBSTER. – In loving remembrance of our dear brother, Ronald, died of wounds June 15th, 1917.
