Family History

Simeon Lancashire was born in 1899 he was the son Joseph a colliery deputy and his first wife Jane Lancashire née Jackson of 36 Ninth Avenue, Forest Town. Joseph was born in 1864 at Staveley, Jane Jackson was born in 1857 she died in 1903 she was 46 yrs, they were married in 1884 at Worksop, they had 9 children Joseph remarried in 1905, to Annie Cowles. b1865 at Puckechurch, Gloucester they had a son Edward Lanes Lancashire born 1907 at Warsop. In 1911 the family are living at 36th Ninth Ave, Forest Town, Joseph is 47 yrs and a colliery deputy, he is living with his second wife Annie 46 yrs and 5 of his children,. including Simeon 12 yrs of age.

Military History

Private Simeon Lancashire enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 4171 in the Leicestershire Regiment. He was killed in action on 27th September 1918 whilst serving with the 1st battalion Cambridgeshire Regiment he is buried at Ephy Wood Farm Cemetery, Ephy, France.
