Frederick Carter was born in 1894 he was the son of Frederick Joseph a coal miner hewer and Elizabeth Carter née Stuffins of 21 Titchfield Street , Warsop Frederick Joseph was born in 1870 at Newcastle under Lyme, Elizabeth Stuffins was born in 1870 at Warsop, they were married on 2nd June 1891 at St Peters Church, Warsop, they had 2 further children, Emily born 1892 and Jenny born 1898 all were born at Warsop. In 1911 the family are living at 26 Clipstone Road, Forest Town, Fred Joseph is 41 yrs and is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 41 yrs and their 3 children, including Frederick 17 yrs a colliery pony driver.

Military History

Private Carter enlisted at Mansfield he served with the 1st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he landed in France on 17th February 1915 and was killed in action on 8th July 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
