Thomas Bullock was born in 1898 at Creswell he was the son of George a coal miner hewer and Hannah Bullock née Coldbeck of 15 Big Barn Lane, Mansfield. Prior to the war they lived at 14 8th Avenue, Forest Town. George was born in 1857 at Bilsthorpe, Hannah Coldbeck was born in 1865 at Sandal, Yorkshire, they were married in 1882 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration district, they had 5 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at 18 Baker Street, Creswell near Mansfield, George is 53 yrs a a coal miner hewer he is living with his wife Hannah 46 yrs and their four children including George 15 yrs a coal miner pony driver
Lance Corporal Thomas Bullock was killed in action, 26th September 1917, age 20, in the attack near St. Julian, Belgium. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. Panel 99 to 102 and 162 to 162A.
His brother Private George Henry Bullock enlisted on 9th September 1914 aged 19. He had had 2 toes amputated and was discharged as physically unfit (not able to march) on 14th December 1918. He died at Walsall in 1921 aged 26 yrs.
