Godfrey Bradshaw was born in 1898 he was the son of Joseph Henry a colliery engine fitter and Maria Bradshaw née Arnold of 20 Second Avenue, Forest Town, John Henry was born in 1874 at Hednesford, Staffordshire, Maria Arnold was born in 1876 at Kimberley, they were married on 21st July 1894 at Holy Trinity Church, Kimberley, they went on to have 5 children, sadly 1 died in infancy. In 1911 the family lived at 19 Second Avenue, Forest Town, Joseph is 37 yrs a colliery engine fitter, he is living with his wife Maria 35 yrs and their 4 children including Godfrey 12 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Godfrey Bradshaw enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Mansfield, he served with the 7th battalion The Buffs and died of wounds on 19th September 1918, he is buried at Doingt Communal Cemetery Extension, France
