Family History

Lawrence was born in 1881 in Keyworth, Nottinghamshire the son of George and Elizabeth, he had five siblings and the family moved to the Arnold area by the time of the 1901 Census when the family were living at Morris Street,Daybrook, at this time Lawrence is a hosiery and laundry worker is 20 yrs of age and single. He married Mabel Ellen Shooter who was born in 1881 in Codnor Derbyshire in Arnold in 1903.Their first child Sybil Mabel is born in 1907 in Daybrook ,their second a son George was born in 1909 in Loscoe,Derbyshire and their third Sarah Holly was born in 1911 also at Loscoe. In the 1911 census we find Lawrence and his family living at 170 Derby Road,Heanor,Derbyshire, they state they have been married for 8 yrs , he is shown as 30 yrs of age and a laundry worker having been born in Keyworth. Following his death Mabel and the family were living at 5, Wellington, Heanor,

Military History

He enlisted at Ilkeston, Derbyshire and served with A battery 150th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery, he was killed in action on 9th April 1918.
