Family History

The son of Elias and Elizabeth Bunney, he was born at Colwick in 1890. His father worked on the railways as a plate layer and Walter was one of 7 children. They were living at Netherfield in 1891.

Military History

Enlisting in Willesden, he entered the theatre of war on 16 August 1914, initially served as Gunner 68166 with the served with the 25th Bde Royal Field Artillery then as Bombardier 68166 with the 114th Battery Royal Field Artillery. France & Flanders died in action. He is buried in Flatiron Copse Cemetery Mametz, France. He was eligible for the 1914 Star, Victory and British medals
