Employment, Education or Hobbies Lionel Schloss attended Nottingham High School, where he was highly academic and successful, between 1904 and 1907. He went to Arra College Portsmouth gaining a 1st Class degree.
Family History

Lionel Ernest Schloss was born on 1st November 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of Alexander Schloss a Jewish minister and Alice Sarah Schloss née Horwitch of 18 Portland Street, Nottingham. His father Alexander was born in 1863 in Poland, his mother Alice Sarah Horwitch was born in 1869 at Hull she died in 1903 aged 34 yrs, they were married in 1889 at Birmingham, they had 6 children. In the 1911 census the family are living at 18 Portland Street, Nottingham, Alexander 49 yrs a widow and jewish minister is living with his sister in law Rosey Howitch a house keeper and his children Freda 15 yrs, Minnie 13 yrs and Hyman 8 yrs of age,

Military History

He enlisted in 1915 and landed in France on 16th October 1916, he served with the 44th Company Machine Gun Corps, he was killed in action on 31st July 1917, having no known grave hs name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial.
